Best Grapefruit Vodka Cocktail Ever!

I can't really take credit for this recipe. I got the recipe from the Deep Eddy site and the only changes I made were using ginger beer rather than club soda and adding a maraschino cherry. This isn't a sponsored post but hey, Deep Eddy people -- if you're reading this I'd love to work with y'all.

So here's how this happened. A lot of weekends we have people over. Nothing formal or planned, just a text message or Facebook status is all it takes. Last weekend I knew that my daughter and son-in-law and my best friend would be here and I was low on tequila. I stopped to the liquor store on the way home to pick some up. I mean it was definitely going to be a margarita and spiked Arnold Palmer kind of weekend.

As I walked in the door there was a lady handing out samples of the Deep Eddy Ruby Red, something I'd looked at but hadn't tried. One sip and I was totally hooked. The flavor was like freshly sugared breakfast grapefruit. I added a bottle to my cart, got my tequila, and checked out.

I'm a very loyal customer. I've been going to this one liquor store forever and I am not likely to change. They know me by now and they are happy to do special orders for me. In fact, maybe they know me a little too well. I was at a school meeting one night last year and as I was leaving I heard someone call me.

Yep. It was the guy from the liquor store who carries out my order and puts it in the trunk of my car. He recognized me and was waving wildly. "Hi! It's me... from XYZ Liquor! It's good to see you agin! Haven't seen you for a couple of weeks."

On the one hand I felt like everyone around me was googling alcohol treatment facilities. On the other I really loved that he recognized me and said hi. It's that kind of stuff that keeps me a coming back to your store... even if you raise the prices.

Anyway, so couldn't wait to get home and make some grapefruit vodka cocktails.

You'll definitely be seeing more of the Deep Eddy Ruby Red here. I've made a few and I am working on a few. This Ruby Slipper cocktail is my current favorite on an occasional cheat day. Yep, I was terribly sad to find out that there are like 7 carbs per ounce.

My son in law, one of my current guinea pigs, stopped by on his way home from work and I mixed him up one. He gets this glow in his eyes when I've made a particularly good cocktail. This one is apparently particularly good.

It's easy, there aren't many ingredients, and it's really, really, really good. You can't ask for more than that
